Interview with Tommy Corman: Executive Director of Love in Action International

Tommy Corman is no stranger to addiction. He had used drugs and alcohol to escape from reality. Through the process of his own healing Tommy has now found himself helping others who struggle. He has now been helping people for over fifteen years. He has been with Love In Action International, a residential Christian-based counseling ministry that helps those struggling with sexual behaviors, including pornography addiction and unwanted same-sex attraction.

Tommy has been sober himself since 1995 and has since gone back to school. He is now a licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselor in the state of Tennessee, He also has a masters in Biblical counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary so he knows the spiritual side of healing as well as the secular side.

Angus Nelson is a natural-born leader, but is not afraid to serve. In fact, you could say that’s exactly why he makes such a great leader. His energy has been described as contagious, his commitment infectious and his leadership inspiring. Angus is the author of a new book about navigating relationship and love called, Love’s Compass: When We’ve Lost our Way. He knows the role of shame in the cycle of addiction. He lives in Huntsville, Alabama with his wife and three kids.

We just had our annual Christmas party last Saturday at a brother's house in QC. I enjoyed the food, the company, the old and new faces, and the friendship we shared for the past year. I hope to see you all next year!

In the meantime I am still reading the book Turning Controversy Into Church Ministry - A Christlike Response to Homosexuality by W.P. Campbell. I highly endorse this book to church leaders, ministers, and pastors who are at a loss on how to deal with people struggling with same-sex attraction in their congregation. I will be posting my review here after I read the book.

This coming Sunday, Dec. 19, our community along with other SSA support groups will have a book launching of Homosexuality & The Catholic Church by Fr. John Harvey, founding director of Courage International. There will be a Eucharistic celebration to be presided by Fr. Dave Clay and Fr. Dan Healy, our spiritual directors. I am still looking into the possibility of selling this book through our blog and the proceeds will help fund the various activities of Courage Philippines. It is our desire that every bishop and priest in this country will have a copy of this book.
